Pumpkin buns with apples and dried fruits

Tasty, fluffy buns. For this perfectly orange color filled with tasty apple and dried fruit filling. Really perfect for coffee or breakfast. Not too sweet for that.


  • 3.5 cups of flour
  • 30g of yeast
  • 2 tablespoons of sugar
  • 1 teaspoon of baking powder
  • 3/4 cup of milk
  • 1 cup pumpkin puree
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon of ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon of ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt
  • 2 tbsp margarine or butter (melted)
  • the peel of one orange


  • 4 apples
  • 1/2 cup of walnuts
  • 1/2 cup of raisins
  • 3 tablespoons of cane sugar
  • the juice of one orange

Put the flour in a bowl and make a dimple in it. Crush the yeast, add sugar and lukewarm milk. Mix gently and set aside for 10 minutes until the yeast starts to work.

Melt the butter or margarine. Add pumpkin purée to the leavened flour (frozen, from a jar or freshly prepared from baked pumpkin in the oven).

Add egg and spices, baking powder and orange zest. Knead carefully. Finally, pour in the melted butter or margarine. Knead until fat is absorbed. The dough will be quite thin, so sprinkle it lightly with flour. Cover and set aside for 1.5 hours to rise. It should double the volume.

Meanwhile, prepare the filling.

Peel the apples and cut them into slices. Place in the pan along with a small teaspoon of butter. Fry in a pan, add raisins, nuts, sugar and orange juice. Fry everything until the apples are soft and the juice evaporates.

Place the dough on the countertop. Divide into 12 parts. Flatten each part with the help of flour (the dough is quite sticky and moist). put apples in the center and stick together. Put the sticky area on the baking tray. Set aside for 30 minutes to rise.

Set the oven to 180 degrees C and bake for 20-25 minutes, until they are browned.

Let it cool down. Serve with the orange and jam. If you want, frost it.
