Delicate juicy chicken breasts, fresh crunchy peppers and sweet onions
Are Fajitas healthy? Yes, chicken Fajitas made this way is healthy. Fajita is definitely healthy, lean chicken, fresh pepper and homemade spices with a touch of olive oil. Personally, I love to serve them with tortillas because I love the taste.
You can add low-fat cheese or even Greek yogurt instead of sour cream. Load the tortillas also with crispy lettuce, juicy ripe tomatoes and fresh jalapenos!
How to season chicken to Fajitas?
These chicken fajitas are seasoned with easy homemade spice. Although you can buy ready-made fajita spice mixtures, combining your own spices not only adds more flavor, but has less salt and additives.
Ingredients
- 2-3 chicken breasts
- 1 medium onion
- 1 lime
- 3 peppers , red, yellow, green or orange (what you have)
- 3 tablespoons of olive oil ,
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/2 tsp onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon cumin
- salt for taste
Cut the onion into larger pieces and the pepper into strips.
In a separate bowl, combine 1 tablespoon of olive oil, 1/2 lime juice, chili powder, paprika, onion powder, pepper, cumin and salt. Cut the chicken into strips and put in the spice mixture.
Heat 1 tablespoon of medium olive oil. Add 1/2 chicken and fry thoroughly, about 3-5 minutes. Remove from pan and set aside. Repeat with the remaining chicken. (If you have a large pan you can bake everything at once)
Set the chicken aside and add 1 tablespoon of oil to the pan. Fry the onion for about 2 minutes. Add chopped pepper and fry an additional 2 minutes. Add the chicken back to the pan and mix to combine the flavors.
Squeeze an extra lime on top and serve with tortillas.
