Homemade pizza dough is cheap and easy, and definitely better than a store-bought one. Additionally, it can be frozen!
You need simple ingredients that are usually found in your pantry. In this case, I use instant (dry) yeast
INGREDIENTS
- 3/4 cup of warm water
- 1 teaspoon dry / instant yeast
- 1 tablespoon of sugar
- 2 glasses of all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- 1 tablespoon of olive oil
Get all the ingredients ready. Dissolve yeast and sugar in warm water. Set aside for about 5 minutes, the yeast should start working.
Place 1 cup of flour and salt in a large bowl.
Pour the leaven into a bowl with flour and salt, and add olive oil. Start adding more flour to the bowl, ¼ to ½ cup at a time, until a dough ball is formed.
Put the dough on a floured countertop, and then knead it for about 5 minutes.
After this time, you have three options: use the dough today (one hour after kneading), use it tomorrow (let it rise in the refrigerator overnight) or within a month (freeze the dough).
Using the dough on the same day
Put the dough in a bowl lightly moistened with olive oil. Cover the bowl loosely and put the cake in a warm place for an hour or until it is doubled in size.
After it has risen, stretch or roll the dough into a circle, place it on a pizza stone or baking tray, add your favorite toppings. Bake the pizza in an oven preheated to 220 degrees C for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are brown and crispy.
Use the cake the next day
Slow rising. Shape the dough into a ball and brush with oil. Put the dough into a closed container and refrigerate for 18-24 hours. Then allow the dough to reach room temperature before stretching and baking.
How to freeze a cake?
Shape the kneaded dough into a ball, brush it with oil, wrap it tightly in foil, then put it in a freezer bag and place in it. When you want to use, simply put them on the counter an hour before use. The dough should be at room temperature before stretching and baking the pizza
