These crunchy little nuts are full of sin. They are addictive, sweet, crunchy.
Caramelized nuts are a great addition to several things. You can sprinkle them with salad, which will change the taste. They are also great on ice cream or yogurt, a bowl of oat flakes, and even added to porridge (after cooking). A small bowl of nuts is also a great addition to a cheese board or as a cake topping.
Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon of butter
- 2 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tbsp white sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup walnuts
- 1/2 cup peanuts
- additionally: e.g. oat flakes
- sweet pepper
Place butter, sugar and salt in a non-stick pan. Heat on a medium level until the butter dissolves and the brown sugar sizzles around the edges (it should still be grainy).
Add nuts (chopped or whole) and mix to cover with a brown sugar mixture. Sprinkle with some paprika. Continue and stir over medium heat for 2-4 minutes or until the sugar is completely dissolved and the nuts are covered (it should be glassy).
Immediately remove the pan from heat because sugar can burn quickly. Spread the nuts on a sheet of parchment paper.
Wait for the nuts to cool completely (about 10 minutes). The caramel coating will harden completely when they are cold. You can now split or break them.
Bon Appetit!
